Yoon Sim-duk Suicide Day

Known as Korea's first pop song, Yun Sim-duk's Praise" is Waltzlo "Donau River ripples," composed by Romanian composer Iosif Ivanovic.

In the 1920s, the song was called "Bonan Song" in Japan and was re-written with Korean lyrics.

It is an anecdote between Yoon Sim-deok, the first female vocalist in Korea, and Kim Woo-jin, his lover and genius playwright, who represents 'New Woman'.

On August 4, 1927, the two committed suicide by jumping into the Hyunhaetan while returning from Japan on a government-run ferry bound for Busan.

Kim Jung-ho (1952-1985), who remade the song, was a genius musician who was considered to have performed the most Korean-style music.
