On August 6, 1993, the opening ceremony of the Daejeon Expo was held. The fair was held for 93 days with 108 countries from around the world participating under the theme of “The Road to a New Leap Forward”.

In 1993, the Daejeon Expo was held as the first World Expo Organization accredited expo held in developing countries.

It was a commemorative expo where Korea, which participated in the Chicago Expo in 1893 for the first time as an 8-room tiled house, became the host country after 100 years.
