Starting with the first dispatch of troops on September 11, 1964, the South Korean combat troops were deployed to the Vietnam War under the Park Chung-hee administration, which lasted for four times until April 1966.

By March 1973, 320,000 South Korean troops had been dispatched to Vietnam after four parliamentary agreements.

It was South Korea's first overseas dispatch of troops to South Korea at the request of the South Korean government and the U.S.

Korea participated in the Vietnam War and sent the second largest number of troops after the United States.
