On August 24, 1992, China and South Korea established formal diplomatic relations.

From September 27 to 30, 1992, South Korean President Roh Tae-woo was the first Korean head of state to visit China at the invitation of Chinese President Yang Sang-gon.

Through the summit, the two countries discussed ways to promote Sino-Korean relations and cooperate for peace and prosperity in Northeast Asia.
