The drum is a percussion instrument based on resonance, which was made to make a sound by filling leather in the stable of a barrel, and has been used in various ways, including folk games, spears, dances, and martial arts in shamanism, with signals of various rituals and wars. The drum consists of two main processes: leather work and drum control work. Buktong, which mainly uses Odong, Yuksong, Miseong, Pine Tree, and Bakdal Tree, has a bucket that is the same size as a barrel made by digging logs. The wood is cut into pieces to fit the length of the tree, and then dug from the core to cut through the inside to create a barrel, but it is difficult to find thick logs, so it is usually made of chunks. The sound of leather depends on the quality, thickness, and area of the animal <span class='xml2' onmouseover='up2 (3985)' onmouseout='dn2()'dn2(()> Wonpi<//span> to remove the hair or to make it into leather, with chicken dung or soybean paste.

Saengchil refers to lacquer that produces a gloss by applying sap obtained from lacquer to objects such as wooden bowls. Refine the lacquer or add something else and use it as it is without processing. The lacquer is obtained by taking the sap that flows through the lacquer bark every three Days from early spring to autumn. The lacquer collected like this hardens when it comes into contact with the air, so seal it tightly and filter it with ramie or silk cloth.

    Remove impurities.

Finish the painting by repeatedly applying lacquer, which has been removed from impurities, over a total of three times, and drying it. The most important thing is that dust should not stick in the process of painting lacquer. If dust is on the work, it should be dried and sanded off and painted again. After this process of painting and drying, rub it with cotton to polish it. One work is completed only after all this process. Some work takes from three months to a year.

Song Bok-nam, who was born in Seoul, began his career in lacquer at the age of 13 at the recommendation of a friend and lived as a raw lacquer plant for more than 70 years. He participated in the Opening of the Chilbulsa Buddha statue in Gyeongsangnam-do in 1989 and the lacquer work of Haeinsa Buddhist altar in Hapcheon in 1994 and participated in the lacquer painting for cultural assets, including the Opening of Buddhist statues and Buddhist altar in Hapcheon. Bosingak Belfry was used during the Joseon dynasty to keep the time. The bell would ring 33 times at 4 AM, signaling the start of the Day and the Opening of the city gates. At 10 PM, the bell would ring 28 and the gates would close for the night. The bell was originally installed at Wongaksa Temple in 1468, in the 13th year of King Sejo, but was moved to its current location in 1619. The bell has high cultural value due to the exact year of construction being known, allowing historians to accurately date artifacts from the same time period. The original bell, National Treasure No. 2, is preserved in the National Museum of Korea.

Tourists to Jongno-gu and locals alike can enjoy a living history through the bell-ringing ceremony that takes place for one hour every Day (excluding MonDays), starting at 11:20. In addition, Bosingak Belfry is the location of Korea's very own "ball drop ceremony" on December 31. On this evening, the streets surrounding the belfry are closed to traffic and people gather to ring in the New Year with the striking of the bell.
